Park of the family

An artificial lagoon, viewpoints, trails and different attractions for children make this green lung a great attraction to visit with the family.

On the banks of the Mapocho River in the Quinta Normal commune, you will find this wonderful 13-hectare place, ideal for disconnecting from the city. In addition to the lagoon, which is filled with water from the same river, The park has an amphitheater perfect for listening to concerts, three water play areas for cooling off, exercise machines and two synthetic grass courts for free use.

A little history…

The park was inaugurated in 2015 with the aim of making the Mapocho river navigable, where nautical activities of small boats are allowed. It is part of the network of parks on the south bank of the Mapocho River and the idea of creating it came from the Chilean architect Cristián Boza, who began to develop the idea from Fundación Futuro, laying the first stone in January 2011.

It was opened with the name of the Jesuit priest Renato Poblete, however, in 2019 the Ministry of Housing and Urbanism announced the name change to Parque de la Familia.

What to do in the Family Park?

Today the park has more than 2,000 species of trees and plants, as well as a colorful route of 4,500 m2 of urban art, giving rise to different viewpoints and trails around the Artificial Lagoon.

For the hot months, the park has three water play areas, where jets come out with different pressures and times so that everyone can cool off.

Due to its trails, exercise machines and synthetic grass soccer fields, it becomes a great place to exercise and clear your mind, all for free use. Their children's games make it a perfect place to visit with the little ones and its colors and artistic interventions make it a great place to take pictures.
