The Plaza de la Aviación is an extension of the Balmaceda Park, which was created in 1929 as part of the old Japanese Park, designed by the Austrian landscape architect Óscar Prager.

Its current name is given in honor of the Chilean Air Force monument erected in 1980. In addition, in the square you will find a water fountain called the Bicentennial, which is almost 70 meters long and more than 25 meters wide, inaugurated in 2005 by the Municipality of Providencia.

What to see in Plaza de la Aviación?

The park that borders the Mapocho River is a good panorama to visit, in this sector of Providencia you can visit the Parque Balmaceda and Parque Uruguay that are part of the green areas that run along the slope of the river. At this stop Hop On Hop Off, you can also walk along Providencia Avenue, a tourist sector full of life, which has different shops, restaurants, cafes, shops and bars to enjoy Santiago.
