A little history ...

The neighborhood had its urban development in the mid-1857th century, with the construction of the Vera Cruz Parish, completed in 1872, but only between 1910 and XNUMX, was it consolidated thanks to the remodeling of the Santa Lucía Hill, the creation of the Forest Park and the construction of the National Palace of Fine Arts. In these years, important figures of Chilean history came to live, such as Pedro Aguirre Cerda, president of Chile between 1938 and 1941, Mrs. Victoria Subercaseaux, cousin and wife of the former mayor of Santiago Benjamín Vicuña Mackenna, the architect and painter Nemesio Antúnez and the writer and liberal thinker Mr. José Victorino Lastarria.

During the first half of the 20th century, buildings and houses with interesting characteristics were built, created by renowned architects of the time such as Duhart, Bolton, Larraín Bravo and Luciano Kulczewski, among others.

The sector was declared Typical Zone in 1997, thanks to its fascinating architecture, in addition to the historical monuments that give this value to the environment.
