Tudor Cafe
Located at the Santiago Funicular Cumbre Station, this cafe welcomes you with incredible architecture and panoramic views. This lounge occupies a heritage and historical place that dates back to 1920, here you can enjoy a delicious coffee, ice cream or snack, while you walk through the Parquemet and its attractions. The Tudor Hall is part of the Santiago Funicular and was designed by the architect Luciano Kulczewsky, like the medieval castle of the Pío Nono Station. Its name is due to the type of construction that was used, with Tudor stones. In Estación Cumbre, the work of Carlos Landa, you will also find the authentic Machine Room, which is located under the Café Tudor. Funicular that was declared a Historical Monument in 2000, due to its heritage contribution to Santiago and its inhabitants. Café Tudor opened its doors in 2023 to welcome all visitors and tourists who visit San Cristóbal Hill. But its history begins much earlier, since its construction was carried out in the 20s and it was used as an elegant restaurant, tea room and exhibition hall. We invite you to visit this beautiful cafe, immersed in nature, that will surprise you with its flavors, panoramic view and architecture that alludes to ancient Santiago, with its decoration and piano in the center of the room.

History of the Tudor Coffee
1923
First stone and Funicular construction
The initiative began to take shape in 1923 with the first stone. The engineer Ernesto Bozo Pezza was the one who was awarded the project to design, build and operate for twenty years the elevator that was to connect Plaza Caupolicán with the top of San Cristóbal Hill. The first stone was laid on November 24, 1923.
1923
Summit Station Construction
The Santiago Funicular Cumbre Station was the work of architect Carlos Landa. This construction included a machine room, public reception and the Tudor Hall designed by Luciano Kulczewski.
1925
Funicular inauguration
On Saturday, April 25, 1925, the official inauguration of the Santiago Funicular took place. The celebration included a dinner in the Tudor room attended by Arturo Alessandri Palma along with 50 people.
1930
Tea Room
Since its inauguration and in the 30s, the Tudor Hall functioned as an exclusive restaurant and tea room that received the Chilean elite.
2000
Historical monument
This year Santiago Funicular was named a Historical Monument, for its great contribution to Chilean history and heritage.
2007
Art exhibition
After being unused for years, in 2007, a group of young people managed its reopening and set up an exhibition hall with works by different artists.
2023
Cafe Tudor Opening
This space opens its doors to the public as Café Tudor, a meeting place for visitors with a spectacular view of Santiago.
