Hop On Hop Off Stop: Plaza de la Constitución

Around this square you will find some of the most important buildings and monuments linked to the executive power of the State of Chile. The Palacio de la Moneda is the headquarters of the Presidency of the Government of Chile. Its construction took place between 1784 and 1805, it was designed by the Italian architect Joaquín Toesca and its original destination was to be the Royal Mint, which is the reason for its current name.

In the square you can see two water fountains in the southern part, a commemorative stone of the plot where the Carrera family lived and five statues with important national political figures: Diego Portales, Pedro Aguirre Cerda, Jorge Alessandri, Eduardo Frei Montalva and Salvador Allende .
