Little Town Los Dominicos 

If you are looking for local and typical Chilean crafts, mixed with a picturesque experience in the middle of the city, this is the perfect place to visit.

El Pueblito Los Dominicos is one of the most recognized tourist centers in Santiago, where you can learn about the national culture and buy souvenirs from your trip. 

A little history ...

The original owner of the land where Pueblito Los Dominicos is located was Doña Inés de Suarez, but in 1767, it passed into the hands of María Antonia Portusagasti, married to Juan Canisbro, who built a beautiful chapel in memory of her two deceased children.  

In 1803 Don Juan died, leaving the San Vicente Ferrer chapel and his furnished house to the Convent of La Recoleta Domínica, with the only condition of founding a house of exercises for the local peasants. The first foray into the trade was in 1978 when they allowed 5 people to sell their crafts on the ground, outside the Church.

Then, the Parish Priest Enrique González asked to give a more comfortable space to these 5 people and that is how they began to build a sales space for each artisan, giving origin to the Little Town of Artisans Los Dominicos, originally called; «The Barns of Dawn». Today it is a place of National Artists, where you will find traditional, contemporary, urban and typical crafts.

What to see in Pueblito Los Dominicos?

Come in and enjoy each store, its products and handmade crafts. Here you will find ornaments, jewelry, ponchos, cushions, Chilean wines, crafts with lapis lazuli, typical Chilean decorations, among many others. Within the town there is also the Pehuén Garden, which has native trees, plants and condiments. 

Additionally, you can visit the Los Dominicos Church, which is cultural heritage and was named a national monument in 1983. A curious fact is that the image of this church was on the back of the $2.000 Chilean peso bill from 1997 to 2010.

If you want to get to this entertaining and historic place, you can get there by the Santiago Metro, getting off at Los Dominicos Station (Line 1), which leaves you right there.
